Valiant VFO Article in ER Magazine

Bruce, I took a look at N9OO's online ER Index for issue 77, here http://home.wi.rr.com/n9oo/ersearch.html

I see there is a Viking Model 122 vfo article about 'its little secret'.  Is that the article your friend mentioned?  If the article talks about the 18K current limit resistor being under rated power wise, then yes it was a secret in 1995 but well known now :>  What trouble are you having with your Valiant?  

I have a Valiant 1, awesome transmitter too, and had to replace the 18K current limit resistor after it slowly burned, lowering its resistance, resulting in higher currents, resulting in it heating up more, lowering resistance, higher currents, etc..... until it was less than 500 ohms, which at that point it was blowing fuses,and took out the 6AU6 VFO tube, the LV rectifier tube.  

Curious what problem the Valiant is having.
