Are you sure Glen? An SB 200 uses a pair of 829B tubes. I've been told you can't put a pair of 811 tubes in there because the power supply is too much for 811s. On the other hand, a Collins 30L1 uses four 811 tubes and many hams have put in two 829B tubes in place of the four 811s and they report the 30L1 purrs like a kitten, hardly knowing the 829B tubes are there.. and they last practically forever.

Don't you mean the other way around?
A pair of 811 tubes can take a whole lot more power
than an 829B. The plates in an 829B would melt long
before those in the 811s.

One day, they wired up a pair of 1625 tubes to see how
much power they could get out as an amplifier. They
hooked up enough voltage to see if they could get a KW
out. The plates went RED HOT glowing ... and
promptly melted. It was kind of like putting a pair of
811 tubes in a circuit designed for 829B tubes.
