The Hallicrafters S108. It's alive

20 dB with single conversion and a 455 KHz i.f. is
pretty good at 30 MHz.

Back in the early 1960s there was a new Official
Observer in the midwest who issued over 1000 notices
for "out of band" operation on 40 meters. It finally
took a number of letters and even some telephone calls
to the ARRL before they "looked" at the situation.
The person was using a single conversion receiver with
a 455 KHz i.f. and was "catching" people 910 KHz away
from their actual frequency. Of course he was
receiving the image!

Can anyone give me an idea as to how "high" the image
rejection should be at 30MHz with a radio with a
single RF stage and a 455KHz IF?

This radio has about 20dB.
