Hallicrafters S-40 vs 40A question

Hi all,
   
  The S-40A I have is missing a serial number plate and has 80 stamped on the chassis. It had a 5Y3 in the socket marked 80 when I got it and a S-40A front panel.
   
  Now my dilemma is, do I have a hybrid or did the S-40As still use the S-40 chassis?
   
  Any help would be appreciated.
