Old Phart Needed!!!

I recently procured a RT-209/PRC-21 hi band VHF FM portable military radio.
This was basically a repackaged Motorola FHTR-3B which can be considered a
2nd generation Motorola portable or "Dragie-Talkie".

The Motorola FHTR-3B was my first 2M portable. It was converted for 2M FM by
a Spokane City detective (who was also a ham) and I bought it from him. As I
remember, the conversion consisted of padding 12 coils with some small
ceramic of SM caps and retuning the TX/RX strips.

Do any of you "Old Pharts" have any experience converting either the PRC-21
or the Motorola FHTR-3B from hi-band commercial freqs to 2M FM? It entails
dropping the operating freq about 6 MHz from the low end of 152 MHz.

Please contact me off list.

Thanks.
