160 M with Heath SA2060 Tuner

Hi Bill,
I haven't seen a response, so I'll jump in. Your half wave 80m dipole
is 1/4 wave at 160, and presents a very high impedance to the feedline on
160m, just like trying to use a 40m dipole on 80. Because the feedline is
low-loss it presents a similarly high impedance to the tuner, and maybe it
is out of the capability of the SA-2060.
You might try tying the feedline together at the tuner, and feeding it
as a longwire. If its' 170 ft is well enuf above ground, it might work out
OK. You'd need a good ground at the tuner, which you probably have anyway.
I just got my inverted L back on 160 yesterday, made a quick QSO last
nite with the new Valiant, hope to see you there sometime, around 1885 on
AM. Static level still high lat nite, but I hear it's been OK at times
lately. The season is abt hr.

Subject: [BOATANCHORS-TEMPE] 160 M with Heath SA2060 Tuner
Hi Folks,
Anyone here tried to load a SA2060 into a 80 M ( 135 feet long ) dipole feed
with open wire on 160 M?
I can't seem to get it to work, I would think it would have enough range to
do that, but maybe not.
The feedline is a recomended non reasonant length, actually very long, 170
feet I seem to remember. I'll check if it's important.
