FYI - from Stuart Rohre in another group:
I just got this email from James Musgrove, K5BZH:
"....Jimmy Waters contacted me today to let me know that
Lewis Cearley died this morning. He has been in
failing health. To make matters worse, he fell the
other day and was placed in the hospital as a result.
I don't know if you might have known Lewis or not, but
I bet you did, he was the owner of Nortex Electronics,
that giant electronics surplus house on the south side
of Fort Worth, I think it was actually in Benbrook.
Lewis was great for information....."
James went on to say he is not sure, but thinks the services will be
Tues. Maybe some of the DFW area folks can watch their papers
and let us know.
Several of us were thinking just recently of wanting to visit Nortex.
You can visit it on the web with great photos of how it always has
been. Don't know if there is family who might continue the store.
Lewis was a WW2 vet, James said.
May he rest in peace. He kept the faith, and kept one of the last
large surplus electronics stores like those many of usknew in the
50's when we entered ham radio, (or earlier). I hope someone will
pick up the torch, and keep the store going in its present location
on South side of Ft. Worth, TX.
