  Many CB amps can be had for free if a guy watches the freebie lists like 
  Craigslist and other local lists. I posted a wanted ad on a local list 
  and got a few A/C powered CB radios, which are good for 6 meter 
  SSB/CW/AM conversions, and a nice A/C powered transistor amp which can 
  go on any HF, MF or LF band with some mods. Dig out some parts in the 
  junk bins, do the mods to make them clean and a guy can have a nearly 
  free amp to use. Gets the bootleg amps out of circulation too.
