R-392

The MilCom Fairy paid me a visit a while back and left a really nice
R-392/URR receiver for me to play with. This receiver is NOT stock....it has
a homebrew kilocycle tuning knob complete with spinner, one of the audio
output jacks has been replaced with a 1/4 inch standard phone jack, there is
a HB 24VDC power supply that does a very respectable job of powering this
old warhorse, too.

So, all in all, this old piece of "green gear" is pretty nice. It receives
well, but I am positive that a complete alignment would do wonders to this
receiver's overall performance. I have been rummaging around trying to find
the TM on this receiver. I have one somewhere, all I need to do is find it!!

In the mean time, does anyone out there in MilCom Radio-Land know of a
person or persons who specialize in R-392 receivers?? I remember that Chuck
Rippel, WA4HHG, was the "master" of the R-390, but methinks he is not doing
much of that work any more due to job demands.

SO, anyone have any suggestions?? I intend on keeping this old gal and using
her on HF for general monitoring and for some CW work in the near future. I
have NO PLANS at all to add the T-195 transmitter and make this into a
GRC-19. No way, Jose!!

Talk to me, people.
