VFO Circuit using Space Charge Tube?

I've waited to post this to check out a couple of things, but there is a piece of
WW II Mil gear that fits the bill.

There is a Crystal Calibrator for the Navy TBX-8 HF radio that uses a 1.5 V "D"
cell and a 7.5 V bias battery for B+.  The full manual is available here:
