Battery Leakage

Hi Fellow Hams,
For a number of reasons I'm sadly having to leave the game (after 63+ wonderful years) and am in the throes of downsizing.  My daughter, who's here helping, ran across a favorite little Ham gadget of mine that I'd misplaced earlier, "Coach Morse" - a small wonderful code training gadget developed by a former Boy Scout of mine and now an Electronic Engineer at the Univ. of Maine.  I'd left the three AA Alkaline batteries in it and when opened there was significant leakage  and the battery compartment is "gooked up".
Do any of you have a suggestion of how to clean up that goop on the battery terminals?
