Hi Mike,
 
I have 5 of those beasts and all the threads are standard mic stand size.  
If yours doesn't fit, then the threads have been damaged ore bored out.   
Are you sure you are not crossthreading it onto the stand? Those threads can 
be  a bear when worn or not square to the mating mount.
