Help with RCA tube ID

Gents,
 
I have an RCA Developmental tube with part of the paper label missing. It appears to be a UHF 7-pin with the grid out the top like an A-4444.
The legible part of the label has **444C printed with (96) hand written
I'm pretty sure the second missing letter is a 4. Was there a A4444C ?
I found a Google site with a A4444 reference but no picture

The second mystery is a RCA tube about the size of a 6H6GT glass tube. 
It has the filament and grid mounted horizontally and a rectangular screen/opening at the top. Might be a photo tube or ???

Any help/pictures?
