Chassis Cleaning

Also might add:
Get a good powerful shop vac with the hose and blow nozzle plugged in on
the blow side and use to quickly blow rinse water away for a faster dry. A
couple of hours out in the hot sun will finish the job. An easel made to
support the chassis on an incline works best. I always place chassis on the
easel with the power transformer at the top to minimize possibility or water
intrusion. Tape over IF transformer adjustment holes and fasten plastic
baggies around power transformers and chokes with rubber bands to help keep
water out. The 50-50 mix of 409 and ammonia in a plastic sprayer bottle is
the best cleaning solution you will find. Industrial 409 is much more
effective than the diluted kitchen counter variety available in the grocery store.
Use in combination with water and be extremely careful around any dials,
knobs or any painted on witness marks or nomenclature as this solution is
very aggressive and will quickly dissolve most screen printed and painted
markings. Get a good assortment of brushes; i.e.: tooth brushes, paint
brushes, etc. Be sure to tape around the metal bands of brushes that have them so
that aluminum parts are not gouged up and scratched accidentally during the
cleaning process.
