restoration question

   I'm considering purchasing a receiver for a restoration project, but I
need to know how you would go about refinishing the faceplate lettering? I
know about the grease pens on recessed print, but what about the painted-on
lettering? Any websites out there to show how to do it? I'm expecting the
radio I purchase to need a complete stripping/sanding/repainting. There's no
specific radio in mind yet, other than it has tubes (of course!), but I want
to make sure I can replace the paint on its faceplate without needing a
degree in art or autobody to make it look original (my degree is in
