  Regenerative receiver was sort of revived in the Q-Multiplier used in many of the 50s and 60s radios. But now Superregenerative detectors are used in many UHF remote control applications and an as strange as it may seem in lasers.
There has been work done  using lasers as sensitive tuned light detectors using superregeneration techniques.
