I agree with the last posters...don't do it. If you can't find someone
going, or meet him halfway, I think the bus companies still have a package
service. If the rig doesn't have to change buses, it might be safe if well
packed, and you supervise loading and recipient supervises unloading.
Kits were not designed to be shipped after assembly! I've even seen some
factory boatanchors damaged in shipping...a Valiant comes to mind, with the
chassis twisted.
Don't do it.

I need to ship my HL-2200 (latest SB-220) to a friend several states
away.... I know removing the tubes is necessary, but some have
commented on removing the power transformer also.... Any opinions or
