The 25 wire cables are excellent for that although a lot weren't so
accommodating.  Hmmm ... I do need to build up my supply of hookup etc wire
... 

BTW, those switch boxes are great for small projects.

For some of mine, I chop off the connectors, strip off the outer cable
covering, and use the individual wires for building stuff.
