FS Restored Hallicrafters S-53 Receiver. The S-53 was a step up from the
S-38 receiver. The S-53 has a power transformer and does not use the AC/DC
chassis like the S-38. The S53 uses 8 tubes in a powerful circuit. There are
two IF amplifiers for extra gain and selectivity, and the audio section is
very similar to the large-chassis radios of the time like the S-85, S-40A,
and the later SX-100. There is a separate oscillator tube.It includes 6
meter coverage. There are controls for ANL On/Off and Sensitivity.

This S-53 has a clean chassis; it has new capacitors, new dial strings, all
original knobs, and a new heavy-duty speaker. The cabinet has been repainted
and looks great. The front panel is original and looks very good. It has not
been repainted. This is the model with the grey cabinet top and grey
escutcheon around the front panel dial.  This unit works with no hum and
good sensitivity on all bands. The band-switch contacts and volume and
sensitivity controls have been cleaned. It has been aligned. This is one of
nicest S-53 receivers available. Pictures available. Price is $95 plus
