[Boatanchors] MOVS (was: Article on changing from 2 to 3 wire power cords)

So, reading this has raised a question. About 25 years ago I went and put good Move across ty e primary leads of the 3 A.C. transformers in my 1930s Hallicrafters HT-9. At the time that was the ultimate. In protection for these unobtanium arts. 


Has thinking changed (I'm a hobbyist and not a tech. or eng.) And should I remove th e MOVS?
