<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>The August 1998 issue of IEEE
"Spectrum" magazine, the official journal of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronic Engineers Inc., has a featured article on vacuum
tubes, written by one of the senior engineers at Svetlana. This is an
extremely interesting article which compares the performance of tubes and
transistors, particularly with respect to audio frequency applications.
The advantages and disadvantages of both transistors and tubes are discussed,
along with the differences in distortion generation, dynamic range and other key
parameters.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>The nature of the article is perhaps best
captured by a quotation from a Vice-President of one of the major musical
instrument manufacturers; "This is not even a topic for discussion as far
as I am concerned... there is no substitute for tube electronics in the hearts
and minds of pros".</FONT></DIV>
