Later went back to check drift and NO ZERO beat COULD BE ACCOMPLISHED with the Valiant VFO. Placed switch in Zero and easily accomplished current on meter with drive wide open, 20 mils oscilator current and 45 mils buffer current, and only about 8 ma. of Grid current. There is no problem getting the rated current in osc. and buffer position with Drive set at 3, but there is no Gric current. So what I have is no VFO ZERO BEAT signal and no Grid drive. When th transmit switch is thrown, the final plate current starts rising and keeps rising until turned from transmit to stand by. Any suggestions about loss of Grid Drive and loss of beat note in receiver for frequency spotting? Your thoughts will be appreciated. 73, John, K5PGW ]
