Hi All, As readers may have noticed, I am a new member of the list, and frankly enjoy the short time I've been on board. I recieved my Novice ticket in April 1969, then on to Extra 1972, so I've worked to enjoy the hobby - not given the license as it appears is happening now. I was disappointed to hear that the code was dropped, but that is just a sign of the times, just like my local favorite radio station format was dropped just a short while back.....but, the DJ is now back on another station and things are good again. Getting involved with selling and buying stuff on eBay rekindled my love for Amateur Radio so strongly, I'm now persuing restoration of two Boat Anchor rigs I held in awe when I was a kid.You may have seen my requests for parts posted for the Johnson Valiant... coming along, but still waiting for the T2 to be rewound. You guys are a extremely valuble source for advice, parts and ask nothing in return. I was QRT for over ten years, I moved to a new house in 1997, so the rig was moved but never connected to an antenna.....I just put up a 135Ft Dipole last month and back on the air - I even praticed morse on a MP3 from ARRL web site getting ready to go back on the air and not be rusty.... I could not find my 33 1/3 LP to practice HIHI I've restored cars also, so fixin' up stuff is in my blood, just as a Hamfest maybe too, just sad to see them go, but I think they can never be replaced.... So, you see, newcomers are out there like myself, but not really, just some old dude trying to relive youth? I can afford it now...... 73's for now, keep up the posting - and thanks to everyone helping me with the Valiant.
