I did some more tests and i found that this happened only when the PPPoE config was combined with 
specific (low?) vbr-nrt values; PCR/SCR was 128/32.
When we changed the PCR/SCR parameters to 64/64 the PPPoE config worked fine.
The PPPoE config worked also fine when we used 128/32 as PCR/SCR plus increasing the MBS from the 
default 94 cells to 200.

Quite strangely the PPPoA config was working fine with all the above pvc configs.
