Hi
In near time I will be deploying few BRASes acting as Service Routers
for our ADSL subscribers. DSLAMs (Lucent) are based on our OC12 ATM
network (Catalysts 8510MSR).
I have three questions:
1) Will PA-A1-OC3SM= be good to terminate about 1k subscribers per OC3
(512/128 downstream/upstream) ? Shaping will be provided via CAR
(rate-limit input ..., rate-limit output ...). Or should I buy PA-A3
or PA-A6 ATM cards ? Currently I have about 6 PA-A1 cards, so I wish
deploy they instead of buying new cards. BRAS will be 7200VXR,
NPE-400/256MB RAM, 2xPOS OC3 to core, IOS 12.3.
2) How much PPPoA subscribers can I terminate on 7200/NPE-400 (each
subscriber will be home-user with 512/128kbit). And how much can I
terminate when NPE-400 will be upgraded to NPE-G1 (uplinks will be
exchanged from 2xPOS STM-1 to 2xGE).
3) Which IOS release you recommend for BRAS ? Is GD 12.3 is good choice here ?
Thanks for help,
Robert
