[nsp] MSFC2 error

I've got a Sup2/MSFC2 that's acting up bad. The sup will boot fine (into 
6.4(4)), however attaching to the MSFC2 console (switch console) gives me 
nothing but the error:

%MSFC2-3-NO_GIG_SYNC: Inband Gig interface not syncronized, status 0x18

..no rommon, nothing. Just this every 5-10s or so.

This is all default install -- just trying to get the msfc going to do the 
native ios conversion.

There was a reference to this in the archives from jared, but it seems to have 
gotten pretty munged up (http://puck.nether.net/lists/cisco-nsp/6000.html).

Any ideas? Is this MSFC2 roached?
