[nsp] Catalyst 3508 -- are they wirespeed?

We are seeing a port on a 3508 picking up ignores:

Last clearing of "show interface" counters 00:01:27
Queueing strategy: fifo
Output queue 0/1024, 0 drops; input queue 0/1024, 0 drops
5 minute input rate 610373000 bits/sec, 73028 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 45548000 bits/sec, 56863 packets/sec
6567557 packets input, 2620013000 bytes, 0 no buffer
   Received 75 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
   0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 8585 ignored
   0 watchdog, 44 multicast, 0 pause input
   5109397 packets output, 507372844 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
   0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred
0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 pause output

At a pretty furious pace, flowcontrol makes no difference and the box is
really only taking this port's traffic in and showing it out, nothing else
is going on.

Any ideas? Is this a hardware buffer limitation and if so, would a 3550-12G
really help?

Thanks,

Deepak Jain
