I sure have been down this road lately.  

This is a great link for MPLS MTU issues on switches.  Beware the wrap.

I hope you don't have any cat 4000s with with sup Is or IIs you need to
get mpls through.  You'll be screwed like we are.

i recall the first ios versions supporting baby giants on 3500XL were
reporting false crc errors for every baby giant


afair it was due to that they've changed asic ucode so that it supported
baby giants but were not able to update the crc routine
