We use Corecess ADSL DSLams, I have evaluated Paradyne 4200 as well. They
do basically the same function, provide ethernet over ADSL connectivity
with simple IP filtering functionality for IP spoofing protection. Zyxel
also have boxes that do the same, but their CLI isn't good enough.

We then use Extreme Networks Summit48si as L3 uplink from the DSLAM with
their super/subvlan functionality (rfc3069) for customer separation and
then uplink with GigE over dark fiber.

Customer has fixed IP number that has to be manually configured. L2 with
L3 filtering in the DSLAM, L3 routing in the Extreme box (Cisco has no
small box that'll do this).

Simple scalable pizzaboxes with good pay-as-you-grow expense curve. Basic
IP connectivity simple without any fuss, you get IP over ethernet as
uplink.

If you need to do 500+ customers per pop it might make more sense to go
for the equivalent chassi solution that does the same thing.
