well, i have a cisco 2511 as the terminal server to collect
a rack of serial craft ports.  so i do say

   telnet 10.0.0.1 20xx

though it is not _really_ using telnet :-)

i enthusiastically recommend that my competitors use telnet over
the open internet to their routers.
