Gert, you must have a really good source for your cisco material then,
I only found it as low as EURO 1400. The 2801 goes for about EURO 1100....

If all that you need is about 5 Mbit/s. throughput and "a hand ful of
routes", the 2811 + WIC-2T will do all you need, and more :-) - it has
2x 100 Mbit ethernet and can saturate those ports (with full-sized
packets), unlike the 26xx series.

The last quote I got for the 2811 was about 1100 EUR, which roughly 
translates to 1500 US$ or so...
