Which CatOS and which IOS version are you using?

We've been very happy with CatOS 5.5(13) and 12.0(recent) IOS on the RSM.

Actually, our 5500+RSM combos have been very stable since day 1, and I've
never seen the symptoms you describe.  <rant>What a pity that Cisco decided 
to stop supporting this platform right before releasing IPv6...</rant>
