Greetings all,
I'm looking for an example of the current best practice/methodology of
ratelimiting on the 6509 platform. Specifically, I have a 6509 Sup2/MSFC2
running native IOS with a WS-X6416-GBIC. There are numerous ways by which
to limit the amount of traffic you can receive on a port (CAR,
traffic-shape, rate-limit, police, etc...) but the effects on each on the
linecard/msfc CPU has been debatable. I'm trying to figure out what the
best method is when you want to limit a high number of pps or traffic,
without affecting the CPU and thusly other interfaces on the card/chassis.
Examples, experiences and advice very much appreciated.
TIA,
Grant
