One of my engineers did that once to a lab unit. It
didn't blow up, and seemed to work fine until I had
him disconnect it.
I was concerned about the possibility of an open
circuit, since I don't know what the disconnect
mechanism in the AC supplies is like, or how it can
interact with a DC supply, and this was in an
office-type lab with a limited-capacity rectifier
supplying DC for test equipment.
