Hi there...

On our 6509 (sup2) we are seeing the following on an interface:

FastEthernet4/2 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
  Hardware is C6k 100Mb 802.3, address is 0001.974b.e851 (bia
0001.974b.e851)
  Description: CVX Dialup Shelf
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit, DLY 100 usec,
     reliability 254/255, txload 4/255, rxload 1/255
  Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
  Full-duplex, 100Mb/s
input flow-control is on, output flow-control is unsupported
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input never, output 00:00:14, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters 22:50:21
Input queue: 0/2000/442/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
  Queueing strategy: fifo
  Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)
  5 minute input rate 613000 bits/sec, 593 packets/sec
  5 minute output rate 1629000 bits/sec, 463 packets/sec
46861923 packets input, 5969738653 bytes, 0 no buffer
     Received 36477 broadcasts (333 multicast)
     114113 runts, 39 giants, 0 throttles
     442716 input errors, 62833 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored
     0 watchdog, 0 multicast, 0 pause input
0 input packets with dribble condition detected
     40604113 packets output, 18128157409 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 1 interface resets
     0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred
0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 PAUSE output
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

The equipment on the other side is a Nortel CVX 1800. It is hard coded to
100 Meg full duplex. Note the errors on the input. I am presuming we
should see much cleaner stats and notice output has none to speak of.

The config is pretty simple:

interface FastEthernet4/2
 description CVX Dialup Shelf
 speed 100
 duplex full
 switchport

What can we tweak to make these errors go away? Have replaced the ethernet
cable and no difference... The card is a WS-X6248-RJ-45

Thanks,

Paul Stewart
