True. And to use redundant sup's, you need the R chassis.

Our 2900 was some fixed-config, supI I think.  Two slots, one for the sup 
with 2 100BaseTX "for uplink" and the second slot for 12 100BaseT ports. 
That was our collapsed backbone back in 96/97.

Maybe just to keep up with roughly 50 percent of all Catalysts being 
called 29xx.  (Even if they are completely different, most of them can 
be called 29xx)



Ah, I really forgot the 2820.  Modular 1900?
