I have never once seen a major merger that is leaked in advance
where the leak isn't surrounded by official flappers of both parties
denying everything.

The fact that Nokia came out so strongly against it to me proves
that there has been some talk behind the scenes. I won't go so
far as to say a merger is imminent - but clearly, they have talked
about it.

Cisco's merger with Linksys didn't match this model.
