we don't have any 7500s in production anymore, so i can't give you real stats.
but we went from :
ip flow-cache entries 262144
to default (64K).
that did the obvious; brought down the flow switching cache, and that gave us a little more headroom with memory.
even of routers that didn't have a lot going on, it seemed like the rsp reserved that memory at boot-up time, and wouldn't release it.
these were typically: RSP4/4+ 256mb and vip2-50 128mb
we didn't run into cef issues (other than those brought on by base memory)
we were on 12.2(25)S3; 2 full feeds, multiple DS3.
