I use PM2s also.

If you want ssh and only need one port, you could use a Mikrotik rb532
or rb512. They have a terminal program for "attaching" to a serial port
much like a pm2 would do. Super small, low power, low heat, and about 
$150-170 for what is metaphorically a networking geek's swiss army 
knife.

For more ports, mikrotik on an old PC would work, but so would any other
linux type solution.
