	The same output also shows you trunk encapsulation to be both 802.1q and 
ISL at the same time, which is clearly not possible :-). The line you 
highlighted displays interface capabilities in regard to Cisco DTP, not link 
negotiation. Show interface capabilities will show you what interface can 
do, not what it's doing at the moment:

	You will see it go down, as line protocol will be down in those cases. It 
makes it a little bit more difficult to troubleshoot, indeed. I have to 
point out that I have seen this only few times and it mostly involved 
NPE-G1's, not Catalyst switches.
