Everything with letters in it should be considered dangerous...

I'm wondering why they recommended 12.2T, and not 12.3 (which should
have all features of 12.2T, plus LOTS of bugfixes).

Asking the feature navigator for "NPE-G1" (it indeeds finds a feature
named so), 12.3(x) has support for it.  So 12.3(15) would be my 
recommendation...

I haven't tested it yet, so this relies on the FN being correct here.
