The 3550 EMI also supported WCCP although limited...
There is a limit of 8 routed interfaces on the 3550 too...
For the EMI and the SMI..

According to feature navigator, both have HSRP and I don't know of any
interface restrictions.  The primary difference is SMI lacks OSPF, BGP,
and a few other "more advanced" routing protocols.
