Hi there..

We have a 2950 24 port switch at a remote location that currently we are
using to trunk a bunch of VLAN's back with etc... real basic layer 2
stuff. The switch has EMI loaded but we're really not using it.

Now, we have an application to bring SIP based traffic over a VLAN into
the switch and then send it out another port (access port). This would
be purely for "transport" purposes between a carrier and our softswitch
gear. This is new territory for me... does the 2950 care at all that
it's SIP based traffic especially when it's only function will be pure
layer2 anyways? What about if we're dot1q trunking the traffic... does
it matter?

Finally, this model has two GBIC slots... can you put anything *other*
than GigE over fiber in these slots? Everything I read says GigE...
we'd actually prefer to run 100FX fiber on one slot..

Thanks,

Paul
