Cisco Catalyst 3750G-24TS

vs

Cisco Catalyst 3750G-48TS

The 24 port is listed as 1.5RU. The 48 port is listed as a 1RU. Same 
number/size of uplinks.

Does this make sense in a world I am not in?

I know 3750G-24TS units are 1.5RU. If they made a newer switch that is 
1RU and has 48 ports, wouldn't it make sense to make the less dense unit 
1RU as well?

Hopefully this isn't rhetorical.
