hi
right now we're having a tunnel structure to get ipv6 from our isp,
since they only provide it by tunnel and not native. But, in the next
few weeks or so, they will go native and therefore would like to get
rid of all the tunnels. Our problem is that we have a C6506 with a SUP2,
which, as many probably know, does not handle ipv6 in hardware. Anyway,
we would like to try route ipv6 in software.
Now, my question is, does any of you have any experience with routing
ipv6 in software (preferably on a 6500)? if so, which ios då you use?
I've been looking at 12.2SX, which, if i've understood everything right,
can route ipv6 in software (according to
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/prod_release_note09186a00801c8339.html#wp1649518).
( I have to confess that i'm totally lost with the different
ios-releases, but i think and hope it'll work with our hardware ;)).
We will not route very much traffic. Today, there's been two peaks
between 30-40mb/s, but the daily average is less than 128kbit/s.
thanks in advance.
best regards,
daniel
