Sure.  Just use any router with a FastE/Gbit interface and trunk it to
the Cat5k.  No need to use a 7500, you could use a 7200/NPE-G1 or
whatever fits the bandwidth needs.

I've never done "external MLS" with a Cat5k (using an external router,
and using MLS between Cat and external router).  In theory, it should work,
