What about modular IOS, so we can choose not to load the modules for all 
sorts of features we never plan to use or can live without when faced with 
the choice of removing a feature or forklift upgrading the hardware?  i.e. 
a typical SP probably only needs IP at layer 3 (no IPX, appletalk, etc.), 
and can get by with a single choice for IGP, etc.
