Hello,

can somebody explain in simple words (or point to a simple document) the
difference between the following 2 commands on an ATM subinterface (with
"L2transport" PVC):

*	encapsulation aal5snap
*	encapsulation aal5
*	encapsulation aal5mux

?

interface ATM5/0.210 point-to-point

 no atm enable-ilmi-trap

 pvc STRW03r 2/203 l2transport

  vbr-nrt 8000 8000

  encapsulation aal5snap

  xconnect X.Y.Z.2 210 pw-class L2L-PW

 !

end

alfonso#conf t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

alfonso(config)#interface ATM5/0.210 point-to-point

alfonso(config-subif)#pvc STRW03r

alfonso(cfg-if-atm-l2trans-pvc)#encapsulation ?

  aal0 Raw Cell, No SAR processing(Like-Like)

  aal5      AAL5 Encapsulation(Like-Like)

  aal5mux   AAl5 MUX encapsulation(Any-Any)

  aal5snap  AAL5 SNAP encapsulation(Any-Any)

alfonso(cfg-if-atm-l2trans-pvc)#encapsulation

Vincent
