I had some version of the IPExpert workbook a couple years back when making my first attempt at the lab, and I recall similar issues with it. I was then shown the internetworkexpert.com R&S workbook and it was far superior. 
I'd sugest getting it, the solutions guide in combination with the online forums will answer just about any questions you'll have.
