We saw a similar error message (using SPF connectors) on a 6506/sup720, and
it was due to the fact that a fresh shipment of spfs we got were actually
fake cisco spfs. Very convincing fakes btw, same internals, cisco stickers,
etc.

I do believe in my searching that the above error message was the one
displayed for gbic devices with the same problem on older IOS revisions.
Cisco puts a check value in the eeprom of the gbics/spfs now upon
manufacteuring and checks to make it valid upon insertion.

Our error messages were:
Oct 12 15:54:14: %PM_SCP-SP-3-GBIC_BAD: Integrity check on GBIC in LAN port
5/2 failed: bad key
Oct 12 15:54:29: %PM_SCP-SP-3-GBIC_BAD: Integrity check on GBIC in LAN port
5/1 failed: bad key
